Wien und Konstantinopel markieren im Nordwesten und Südosten der Karte die Metropolen der beiden Kriegsgegner. Die Titelkartusche weist durch Ikonografie und Positionierung auf der Karte die europäische Seite des Bosporus als „Bollwerk“ des christlichen Europas aus. In der Nähe von Belgrad ist der Punkt eingezeichnet, von dem aus nach dem Frieden von Karlowitz (1699) die Grenze zwischen den beiden Imperien neu bestimmt wurde.

Vienna and Constantinople, in the North-West and South-East of the map, were the metropolises of the two warring sides. In between lies the space contested by the two imperial realms –the ‘theatre of war.’ The title cartouche designates, through iconography and positioning on the map, the European side of the Bosporus as a bulwark of Christian Europe. Near Belgrade a point is drawn in, from which the border between the two imperial realms was newly determined after the Treaty of Karlowitz (1700/01).
